Aims/possible projects
- New Zealand has a large amount of places with rich historical significance. It would be great to contact those responsible for these places and get them to contribute information and history to Wikipedia.
- Bid for a WikiMania conference to take place in New Zealand. This would require that a strong and active New Zealand Chapter be established.
Roles an NZ chapter would play
- Promotion of Wikimedia projects and Free content in general.
- Encourage the use of Wikimedia resources in education. (Due to abuse, many New Zealand schools' IP's have been banned from editing Wikipedia)
- Provide a first point of contact for media seeking comment from New Zealand contributors to Wikimedia projects.
- Recruit New Zealanders to contribute to WikiMedia Foundation projects.
- Organise conventions, workshops, and attend conferences.
